Mothers Day can in fact be a ton of work. Making plans, making breakfast for your family, making sure your own mom has the perfect gift, all while juggling family dynamics and drama. Teachers. In my 35 years of existence, I have had a love hate relationship with teachers. As a student I had respect and admiration for those that were nice to me. On the other hand, I had disdane and well, basically fear, for those teachers that were not nice to me! I guess looking back I could have tried harder. I could have had a better attitude. I could have been that model student! Well folks, Karma bit me in the ass as soon as my oldest child started school.
I can tell you it does take a special person to be a teacher. Working four nights a week, thirty minutes a day, I am reminded daily of how special teachers are, as I do homework with my son. The teeth clenching is real people, and it is not pretty! If this is thirty minutes, with my own child, who I gave birth to and inately love unconditionally, imagine how these amazing people get up every day to face our kids, all twenty to thirty of them in one room. I truly do not believe that its a coincidence that Teacher Appreciation Week is the same week as Cinco de Mayo. Drink those margaritas dear teachers, you most certainly have earned them!
